Day Two…and Still Blogging!

Second day of the rest of my on-line life.

In BACON news – we went to breakfast at a local joint in Berkley, MI this morning.  I was able to get my usual – the “Ultimate Scramble” with no eggs.  It is a wondrous mix of hash browns, sausage, bacon, ham, onion, green pepper and cheese.  I love it because it’s so hearty and there is great pork taste in every bite!  One of those breakfasts that you don’t have to eat until dinner!

Last night, as if God was looking down at the start of my blog, Food Network had a new episode of “Iron Chef America“.  It was a battle of suckling pig and the iron chef was Michael SymonMr. Symon is a pure lover of the hog and watching him deconstruct those little piggies was incredible.  EVERY dish he plated made my mouth water!

Michael’s restaurant in Cleveland, Lola’s, was featured on “Anthony Bourdane’s No Reservations” and I have been of fan of his since.  He’s recently opened a new restaurant here in The D called Roast at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel downtown.  Better Half and I are taking in a show at the Fox this Friday and are planning dinner there.  We’ll let you know how that goes down.

As a Lola and Lolita regular in Cleveland, I know you’ll love Roast.

Mike,

I AM AMAZED! I have been wanting to dine at Lola/Lolita for years. Now he opened a joint in Detroit. You have brought a tear to my eye. I now have one more reason to live. One more reason to stay in this barren wasteland that is Michigan. CRISPY CHICKEN LIVERS! BEEF CHEEK PEIROGIES! ROASTED MARROW! That sounds offal!

I watched the show yesterday on DVR and it was great. What was Appleman thinking challenging Symon? Really – going against the guy with the pig tattoos in a pork battle?

Going to Roast on Friday!!! YEAH for me.

I think on ICA they are told that the ingredient could be one of a few things…so they can have the basics they need and then spring the final decison at the reveal. If they knew it was suckling pig before the battle, I think he’d go with someone else. It was a close decision though,

But seriously, why wouldn’t you always choose Cat Cora??? I have NEVER been inpressed by her.
