I HEART Chauncey Billups!

Chauncey Billips is a great player!  Yes, I have a Detroit bias…but the man has been to SEVEN Conference Finals IN-A-ROW and after his trade to Denver this fall he whipped that team in shape, took charge and now have the Nuggets playing later in the season than they ever have before.

And then…last night…he did this to Kobe Bryant!

I love this man and I am not afraid to shout it from the rooftops!  He never really got the respect from the media or the league when he was here but hopefully will start to be recognized on a greater scale after what he has accomplished this season!

Go get ‘em Ba-Ba-Ba-Billips!

Nerd News…Week 18

Time to let my nerd flag fly…

First – it was Daddy Daughter Day on Sunday.  With me being gone all week in Utah, I gave Better Half a break and took off with Lil’ Baird.  Where did we go?  Why the Motor City Comic Con!!!

mccc

We both got dressed in our Lucasfilm shirts (I got her a onesie when I went to their offices last year) and headed out.

It wasn’t a bad show this year and a nice crowd for a Sunday.  The big highlight for dad was getting to meet Carrie Fisher (that’s Princess Leia y’all).  Lil’ Baird and I stood in line for only about 15 minutes and I had Ms. Fisher sign a photo for my baby girl!  SWEET!! [Read more →]

Better with Bacon – Iceburg, Potato, Bacon Salad

Something like this makes a GREAT side dish with a grilled steak or even chicken.

I like salad, I like potatoes and I sure as all heck like bacon…why not put all three togther in a easy recipe???

salad

The fine folks at Capital News 9 in Albany, NY did just that…

I might switch the lettuce to a romaine, switch the dressing to a light ranch…but each is own!

Moab, Day 4…Devil’s Revenge!

I awoke on Day 4 with limited range of motion in my left shoulder, cramped hands, stiff knees and the knowledge that I was headin’ back out on the trail.

Given the difficulty of the “Cliffhanger” trail, I was determined to drive on a trail that I could just relax  and take it easy on.  One group of our party was going on “Chicken Corner“.  “Chicken Corner“, now that even SOUNDS like a easy trail.  I figured I’d take that trial with the rest of the team…ah but they had something else in mind.  I was to drive “Devil’s Revenge“.

Seriously, “Devil’s Revenge” featuring such obsticles as “Hell’s Gate” and “The Escalator“.  Oh, I was NOT happy!!!  But, I know that we really needed to split up so we could show off the TOMCAR’s capabilities to as many people as possible, so I sucked it up!

Fortunately, I had a more seasoned driver with me on the trail.  JR is the son of our dealer in Orange County and has been off-roading for several years.  I knew if I had a problem, I could always just give him the wheel.  That put me a little more at ease.

Well it turns out the “Devil’s Revenge” wasn’t that bad of a trial.  It was PERFECT for our car and I only wish our group wasn’t so large so that we could have opened up the throttle a little.  By the end of the day, my confidence had improved and I was drifting through sand dunes.  The major difference from “Cliffhanger” was that the obsticles on “Hell’s Revenge” were OPTIONAL!  Everything on “Cliffhanger” you had to get through to keep moving and in one specific instance you either did it or you were going off the side of the mountain.

I left the course that day feeling good (even my body had loosened up a bit).  We had a successful three days showing off our great vehicle, I saw some incredible scenery and met some real good, honest people.  Here’s to next year!

Coming Wednesday, photos and video from the UTV Rally.
