Goin’ to the Market…Week 25
Weekly Deals for Michigan Grocery Store Chains  - 6/29/09:

This week we officially welcome SuperValu Foods from the U.P. (that’s Upper Peninsula to the uninitiated)  and Glen’s Market. We now, in some way shape and form, should have ALL of Michigan covered.
I list only Chain Stores on this weekly feature as there are just too many small boutique grocers, many of whom don’t advertise their weekly specials or if they do, only list a very small amount (and never list bacon). Trust me, I tried following a few. However, if I do come across a deal on some good bacon at one of these places, I’ll tell you about it!
Kroger – Hormel Bacon, Select Varieties, 12 – 16 oz. (2 for $5 w/ card)
Meijer -Â Plumrose Sliced Bacon, 16oz. ($2.29)
Hiller’s - Our Family Sliced Bacon, Original Double Smoked or Low Salt, 16 oz. (2 for $5)
Busch’s - Spartan Brand Bacon, Regular, Thick or Low Salt, 16 0z. (2 for $5)
Hollywood – No Advertised Specials this Week.
VG’s – Spartan Brand Bacon, Assorted Varieties, 2.1-16 oz., excludes 12 oz. (2 for $5)
Glen’s Market – Spartan Brand Bacon, Assorted Varieties, 2.1-16 oz., excludes 12 oz. ($2.79)
SuperValu Foods - Patrick Cudahy Bacon, Select Varieties ($3.29) BONUS – Bacon Wrapped Hamburger recipe on page 3.
Target – Hormel Bacon, Select Varieties, 12 – 16 oz. ($2.79)
Please note, every store with in a chain is different and may not feature the same specials. When in doubt, check your individual store.
Need to see another store on the list…let me know!
Go get some!

Fair Food…More Choco-Bacon!
This comes to us today from TDB’s “Southern California Bacon and Beer” Correspondent Vicki (SHOUT OUT!)
Chocolate-covered bacon at San Diego Fair…so wish I saw the chocolate-covered bacon while *at* the San Diego Fair yesterday! Instead, I was at the International Beer Festival part of the fair, of course. Only when I came home and flipped through the program did I see this delicacy. If I end up going back within the week, I will certainly try it out, even if it was deemed the grossest fair food.
Another fair getting on the choco-bacon train! I can’t blame Vicki for not noticing, she was at the International Beer Festival after all!
While she didn’t try it, she did attach this video.
