well not exactly 20 years to the day, but indeed 20 years since yours truly graduated from Lakeland High School in White Lake, MI.  Last night, I went to my reunion…

I really was torn about whether I should go or not and wrote about it on the blog.  The comments I received both here and on Facebook, a few from former classmates, helped me to decide that yeah I should go.  The nice thing was that our “rival” high school, Milford, was also having their reunion the same night at the same place. 

So I got there about an hour late (stayed home to watch the end of the Tigers / White Sox game) and as I was walking into the building, I really got a little nervous.  I had to stop and take a few breaths before opening the door.  It actually got worse as I went up to the registration table.  I held out my hand to get my wristband and saw it shaking.  What the hell Baird?!?  I needed a drink! Last week, Better Half and I were able to get out of the house and go see “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” (two word review – loved it!).  Before we headed into the theater for the 2:40 movie, we ran across the street to Cosi and grabbed a bite to eat.

Boy this stands up real good! It made me remember how much I really dug these guy.

As I head to my 20th Class Reunion tonight, I’m gonna pop in my “Vivid” tape (yes my car still has a cassette player, it’s a fine German vehicle!)

It’s been three weeks since my last update on my progress with “The BLT from Scratch Challenge” and those three weeks have been like watching paint dry.  It’s really a waiting game this month as the tomato and lettuce plants continue to grow.

Here’s a shot of the garden as of last Sunday:

The corn has taken off nicely…and on the other side, you can see the MUTANT cherry tomato plant that is essentially taking over the entire garden!!  We have had to trim the plant twice already, just to allow sunlight to get to other plants on that end of the garden, including my beefsteak tomatoes.  I have no idea what has caused this little plant to go crazy, I just hope we get a ton of fruit off it.

But I digress…
