REMEMBERANCE – John Hughes

Seriously?!?

Lansing, MI native John Hughes passed away today, he was 59.

No writer / director captured the youth of my generation like John Hughes.

His films from mid 80′s through 1990 stack up as some of my favorite films of all time AND are some of the most revered and quoted films ever!

Here’s a list of the films he wrote during that prolific span.  I’ve starred the films he also directed.

  1. Home Alone
  2. Christmas Vacation
  3. Uncle Buck (*)
  4. The Great Outdoors
  5. She’s Having a Baby
  6. Planes, Trains & Automobiles (*)
  7. Some Kind of Wonderful
  8. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (*)
  9. Pretty in Pink
  10. Weird Science (*)
  11. European Vacation
  12. The Breakfast Club (*)
  13. Sixteen Candles (*)
  14. Vacation
  15. Mr. Mom

He was truly a gifted filmmaker and brought tons of joy to millions.

In his honor this weekend I will take on a mutant biker gang, sing Danke Schoen, make a pixie stix sandwich and will pay $5 to see some girls underwear.

Sadly, I can’t find many of his more iconic clips over the interwebs, but here are a few to enjoy and remember.

There will be plenty of others far more eloquent than I eulogizing the man over the next few days. All I would like to say is thank you Mr. Hughes!
