Where I Went Last Week…
So last Wednesday, Boss man and I jumped into his plane and flew out to Hartford, Connecticut to attend the Connecticut SWAT Challenge.
SWAT - you know, the one where a non-descript black cube van appears out of nowhere and suddenly your house is swarmed with police with big guns and riot gear. Yes, that SWAT.
It was pretty impressive, not gonna lie. I got to watch a few of challenge course scenarios and these guys mean business, even during “friendly” competition.
Anywhoo…our Business Development Manager for the east coast worked a spot for us in this show.

We showed off both of our TOMCAR TM5′s, our current standard model (in the green) and our base military platform. We had real good response to the cars and all and all it was a good show.
But wait – there is more…after the jump…
In my past life, the trade shows / business events I attended were around comic book conventions and large sporting events.  While I am definitely a fish out of water at the shows I now attend, I am learning something every time out!
At this event, we shared our space with a gentlemen who has built a strong business out of performing ATV and UTV training for police and fire departments. It’s a real intensive course for first responders and quite impressive. He also happens to rep a bunch of products, one of which is TASER.  Behold the TASER table…

Yes, that is a TASER rifle!! AND A TASER CLAYMORE!!!
The clear gun on the table is a single shot gun. The yellow one popped up on it’s barrel, that is a three shot TASER pistol.
The guns have what I renamed the “reminder button” on their sides. It’s there so if your suspect decides not to comply after gettin’ lit up for the first five seconds, you can push the button and give them another shot of juice. It’s nasty, but pretty effective.
So we were joking around all day Wednesday about who was going to take one for the team when toward the end of the day this group of National Guardsmen march over to the table.
“Can I get TASERED?”
What? REALLY?? Yup! One of the Guardsmen was going to get shot. Wanted to get shot. The payoff…$20. Not $20 from each of the 10 guys urging him on, just $20, one little bill.
So what did I do? I taped it of course! Caution, there may be some cussin’.
But we weren’t done yet. About 10 minutes after he got lit up, his buddies came back over…
and finally…
I have no confirmation whether the last two were also paid or if they were just talked into it. All I know is they got lit up good. The third guy even got shot in the butt!
It’s just five seconds, but it is a looooooooong five seconds.

So there you go. That’s what I was up to last week.
