Fast Food Friday – A&W
A&W…ah the memories. I grew up in Milford and just outside of town was an old school A&W drive-in. It was such a treat to go there and get a foot long chili dog and a root beer (in those days served in a heavy glass mug). It was awesome!
To present day, there’s an A&W in Berkley, just up the road from my house and up until now, I never bothered to go there.
For this week’s look at fast food bacon, let’s pull up and grab a burger…
You can’t really see it, but it’s the number 2 we are after today, the Original Bacon Double Cheeseburger.
I took this only to show you that great foam on top of the root beer. I am not a root beer fan at all BUT A&W Root Beer to me is the absolute best!! Such a distinctive taste! Okay, back to the burger…
Not a bad looking burger, much bigger than I expected. Let’s open her up…
OH MY HORROR!!! BURNT BACON!!! Damn, damn, damn, damn…come on guys, you can’t serve it like that!!! Let me pull out a bit that isn’t burnt…
All of it was way too crispy. There was a heavy salt taste, but no other balance. So disappointing.
The burger itself was really good but this just really bummed me out. Good fries, root beer from the fountain, solid burger but BURNT FRICKIN’ BACON!!!
