Advertising with Bacon…
It seems that creative directors are starting to jump on the internet bacon bandwagon…
This last week, I have seen two specific creative campaigns that very predominantly feature everyone’s favorite slice of swine.
The first was this ad I found while perusing the fine editorial content over at Deadspin.com:

Let me blow this up a bit…

Click on “Begin Show” and you see step-by-step instruction on how to make maple bacon ice cream. Of course you are also directed to the cookware section on ebay, but at least you get a good recipe out of it.
The second is a contest that Norton is currently running on their website entitled “Norton Saved My Bacon“:

They are asking for your backup (or lack thereof) horror stories and the winner gets a year supply of bacon (cash equivilant if your a veggie) as well as a package of other bacony novelty products. Seriously, you’ll win a year’s worth of bacon.
Is this the beginning of a wider trend? Or is this the beginning of the end for the populist bacon movement? As soon as ads like this start popping up that usually means we’ve just crested the summit of the popularity wave. Hmmmm…talk amongst yourselves.
