AURGHHHHHHHHH!

So after all those problems with getting our database updated and installing the latest edition of WordPress and then THINKING that everything was okay, I have just noticed a lot of  formatting issues and strange characters appearing in previous posts!

Please bear with us/me as we/I get this fixed!

Adventures in ChocoBacon – Sizzling Bacon Bar

We’ve got a new entry into the ChocoBacon universe…this coming from Christopher Michael Chocolatier in Newport Beach, CA.

(c) Christopher Michael Chocolatier

It’s the Sizzling Bacon Bar!  What makes this Sizzlin’?  How about POP ROCKS?!? (or as they call it, “popping candy”)

Yes, it’s chocolate and bacon but also sea salt and popping candy.

WOW!

Yes, my head started spinnin’ and mouth slobberin’.  A strange mix but color me intrigued.

An order has been placed (not cheap – $7.00 a pop) so expect a review soon!

In the meantime, check out all the chocolate over on their site!

Fast Food Friday – Del Taco

Yes, you read that right, Del Taco!

With only five stores in Michigan, it was very easy never to come in contact with this traditional left coast chain.

I ate there for the first time just about a year ago when after changing jobs I noticed one of their locations along my new route to work.  Felling like trying something new, I went in. They had all your basic taco hut stuff on their menu but then I saw…HAMBURGERS!  What?!? Hamburgers at a taco joint?  Look at the menu for yourself…

deltaco1

I know, madness right?!? It was like dogs and cats living together…I was confused and slightly afraid so I just ordered my soft tacos and got out of there.

But, they had burgers.  So on the list they went for “Fast Food Fridays”

Without further ado…let’s get to the bacon! [Read more →]

My New Brother/s in Bacon…

All, I would like to introduce you to the Republic of BaconRepublic of Bacon meet my 10′s of readers…

I received a Facebook email sometime back from some folks who were creating a new bacon website.  They asked if they could pull from my feed, share content, yada, yada, yada…

Flattered that I gained what I thought was reader 11 (when I say 10′s, I mean that literally 10 people read this dinky little site) I just sort of smiled a little and went about my life.

Then came a second emails months later. Paraphrasing – Hey Mike, s’up? The sites up, thanks for letting us include you.

Site? What site? Oh yeah that’s right, those guys. Well good for them.

So curiously I entered the address into the google machine and…

HOLY CRAP!!!

This just destroys my little sideshow. I’m just barely getting by with 3rd grade CSS / WordPress skillz and here these wacky Canadians come in and drop the bomb.

This site really looks fantastic, is engaging and fun. Some areas are light on content right now, but hey, they are just starting out AND when you have gone through this much work already, I’m happy to cut you so slack.

Thank you for including me guys! If you ever feel like designing another site (slowing raising hand)…

Click on the screen shot above and go check them out!

Makin’ Bacon – Edwards of Surry, VA

Just prior to Christmas I arrived home to notice a plain brown cardboard box sitting on my front porch.  Turns out the guy who up until the 31st I called boss got me a little holiday gift. I opened it to find two pounds of gourmet bacon from Edwards of Surry, Virgina

Goin’ to the Market…1.0

So we have reached 52 straight weeks of “Goin’ to the Market” updates.  One full year of bacon deals at Michigan grocery stores.

I’ve changed the post title to reflect that change.  Instead of starting “Week 52″, it’s now “1.0″ with the one standing for the number of years the segment has run continuously and the number after the “.” denoting the week. So next week will be 1.1, then 1.2, 1.3, etc.  Sort of like magazines do with volume/edition.

Enough with the nomenclature…where can I buy some bacon this week??

Well here you go – your bacon specials at Michigan grocery store chains for the week of 1/4 – 1/10/09.
