Better Half, Lil’ Baird and I headed on out for a family breakfast and trip to IKEA this morning. 

There is this little family restaurant a few blocks down from Swedish Eden that we had visited before and quite liked, so we figured we’d grab breakfast there.

Well when my breakfast came, which was to include 2 strips of crispy sliced pork belly goodness, this is what I got…

THAT qualifies as TWO STRIPS?  Look at the fleck of bacon! 

ABSOLUTE BACON FAIL!

I am now debating whether we ever go there again.  Sure I like their pancakes and they make a mean cup of joe, but short me on my bacon and I will unleash Hell!

Didn’t get out this week to sample any fast food bacon, but there has been some news surrounding our favorite meat within the world of QSR’s…

• Wendy’s has expanded its line of premium burgers with the introduction of the Bacon & Blue burger.
• Earlier in the week Burger King introduced their new premium Steakhouse XT burger line which for a limited time features a smoky cheddar (w/ bacon) burger version.
• Jack in the Box launched their new grilled sandwiches buy holding a FREE sandwich day (one is a turkey bacon) and started showing a new commercial for their bacon burger (which is pretty funny yet I can’t find video of it anywhere).
• Carl’s Jr. has had so much success with their Grilled Cheese Bacon Burgerthat they expanded the sandwich into Hardee’s stores, officially launching the Grilled Cheese Bacon Thickburger(R).  The supported the new launch through a Facebook promotion called “The Comfort Place“.  I’ll let you go and experience it yourself.
• And finally – there was some big to do’s over in France where the Quick chain removed bacon burgers from their menu and replaced the with a Halal beef and smoked turkey burger.  Politicians are claiming  discrimination against non-Muslim customers.  And the Islam / French tensions continue to mount.  Read the whole story here.

So there you go!  Maybe next week I’ll get in the car and go have a bacon burger.

I’m making Toll House cookies the other day (the absolute best chocolate chip cookie recipe – bar NONE – I will not even hear your comments to the contrary) when a light pops over my head…

There is bacon that I cooked in the fridge, I write a bacon blog and since day one I have consistently run into stories/recipes for chocolate chip bacon cookies.

Hmmmmm.  How could this NOT be a good idea?

So with one trays worth of dough left, it was time to add the bacon!

There are times where I am truly at a loss for words…this would be one of them.

Hello everyone and welcome to another installment of “Fast Food Friday” where we here at TDB (and by we I mean me) head out to fast food places to have a bacon related menu item and then give you our (my) opinion of said bacon…and we do this with exciting photos!

I have come to a point where I have run out of traditional fast food burger joints within a 20 miles radius of TDB’s world headquarters which means I really need to start driving to get to the very few chains left in the metro that haven’t been rated yet. 

So I take to the streets and start driving when out of the corner of my eye I see this sign…

Potbelly was promoting a new 3 Cheese Bacon Tomato Melt.  Hmmmmmmmmm….bacon, cheese, tomato…toasted…it was cold outside…I really didn’t want to drive…

So begining this week, we will now be adding sandwich joints to “Fast Food Friday”! [Read more →]

Not only is this a perfect marriage of flavor but they went ahead and gave them a great name as well –  ”Who’s Your Daddy“.

This is quite possibily one of the greatest ideas EVER!

Made of rendered bacon fat with a vegetable base wick, it’s the completely (and purposely) edible Bacon Candle!

David Burke’s Primehouse in Chicago has created this masterpiece.  It allows diners to use the lit candle to then drip an “appropriate” amount of bacon goodness over your food.

This man is a culinary GENIUS and I now must eat there the next time I’m in the Windy City.
