Test Kitchen – Nestle Toll House Bacon Cookies…

I’m making Toll House cookies the other day (the absolute best chocolate chip cookie recipe – bar NONE – I will not even hear your comments to the contrary) when a light pops over my head…

There is bacon that I cooked in the fridge, I write a bacon blog and since day one I have consistently run into stories/recipes for chocolate chip bacon cookies.

Hmmmmm.  How could this NOT be a good idea?

So with one trays worth of dough left, it was time to add the bacon!

I took a guess and grabbed two slices of bacon, chopped them up and threw them in.  I had a moment where I asked myself, “REALLY?  What are you doing?” but it was too late, the bits where in.

Look at that would ya?  Now my mouth started watering…I think this is going to be okay.

It appears my guess about two slices worked well.  Just enough bacon to get a nice even mix into each cookie without being crazy.

Let’s get ‘um in the oven!

Annnnnnddddddd 10 minutes later…

KA-POW!  Behold – the Toll House Bacon Cookie!

Here they are on the cooling rack next to the “regular” cookies.  Wow, what a difference!

So how’d they taste?  Pretty darn good! Bacon really works with the semi-sweet morsels and the already slightly “salty” batter.

The one thing that is just a little weird is how the bacon is always the last thing in your mouth.  It was the same with the Mo’s Chocolate Bacon Bar and even the Das Food “Man Bait lollipop.  No matter how big or small a bite, it’s like the rest of the ingredients just disintegrate around the bacon and you’re left with little chunks of meat just floating around your mouth, getting stuck in your teeth, etc.

Would I make them again? Yup!  Should you make up a batch? Yeah, give it a try!  You just might like it.
