Bacon Pic of the Day – Meat of the Earth…
From The Doings: Hinsdale -
Some rock hounds spot a shiny object and dream of pendants, earrings and brooches. The late Sylvia Josefek saw bacon, eggs and grits in the rocks she found while perusing the country’s great outdoors.
Josefek lived in North Riverside and spent years collecting and perfecting the rocks used to create The Rock Cafe, on display through Sept. 5 at the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art in Elmhurst. The tabletop-sized exhibit consists of three place settings, all made from stones and all displayed on items obtained through the artist’s other passion — garage sales.
The meals on the Lizzadro menu include a breakfast made of marble onyx that resembles bacon; eggs crafted from marble and aragonite grits topped with yellow Mexican onyx.
So if you are around Elmhurst, IL over the next month, why not stop on Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Arts.
PS – Lapidary means “concerned with stones”. I had to look that one up.
