Halloween Week – Bacon Man…

BOO!

Halloween Week – Cutest Cyborg Cure for Crime EVER…

Not the strongest of titles, but I just couldn’t pass up the alliteration.

I was going to write about some “spooky” holiday foods, maybe even including some bacon back in the blog, but then I saw this…

I mean COME ON!

That little man is in a homemade RoboCop outfit his dad put together using just a bunch of junk in his basement. Better yet, they live in Detroit and Dad had the absolute brilliant idea of taking his cyborg out on the streets of the “D”.

Absolutely epic!  More great photos on Dad’s blog – Sweet Juniper.

Halloween Week – It’s a Zombie World…

and we are just livin’ in it this Halloween.

Here’s just a sample of the Zombie stuff I have encountered just today!

First from Fast Company comes this article about a new game created by the developers at Yahoo! Sandbox called “Shambling Hordes“.  I read the article when it came through my Facebook feed and then spent my lunch hour playing this thing.  It’s creepy addicting…You can get addicted too, play the game here.

Then later in the afternoon, I get my weekly email from Instructables and what do I find?

Click on the site link to go to their very Halloweened home page for more goodies.

Then I get home and I’ve got a great little surprise on my DVR – “The Dead Set“.  It’s a 2008 five episode series from Channel 4 in England that is set in the “Big Brother” house and chronicles a zombie outbreak that strands the housemates and production staff inside the house, which quickly becomes a shelter from the undead. It’s been airing this each day this week on IFC. Yeah me!

And that reminded me to set the television to record “The Walking Dead” which premiers on Halloween on AMC. Here’s a little taste…

See…zombie, zombie, zombie…not that I am complaining at all!

As if Searswasn’t scary enough, looks like this week they are focusing their advertising message to capture that elusive consumer segment, the undead…

You can change the site language from English to Zombian, use their zombie gift guide (please do), play with the zombie friend maker (my buddy is below) and more…shuffle on over to sears.com to take a look for yourself.

Kudos Sears! and Happy Halloween!

The Strange Case of Bacon Academy Football…

It’s truly “Jekyll and Hyde” up in Connecticut. I just can’t figure these kids out…as always, our news comes straight out of the Norwich Bulletin from Brian Girasoli:

COLCHESTER — Two straight dispiriting losses had the Bacon Academy football team feeling pretty angry during practice this week.

“It’s been a long, great week of practice,” said Bacon coach Duane Maranda. “I was (upset) from Sunday on, I really was. I couldn’t wait to get these guys back on the football field and making the defense a little stronger, and getting them to play the way I know they can play.”

Did they ever. Saturday against Plainfield, linebacker Tommy Scott had at least four sacks and Alex Couture returned an interception for a touchdown in the Bobcats’ 41-22 win.

So after two losses where they are outscored 101-7, they jump all over Plainfield.  This team is completely schizophrenic.  In their three wins, they’ve averaged 44.3 points!  But then they just get destroyed in their losses.  I don’t know if there is that great of a discrepancy in talent within the league or if this inconsistency is due to coaching but come one guys…

Anywho, the fightin’ Bacon Academy fightin’ Bobcats are back to .500 at 3-3 with four games to go.  Let’s try to make it two in a row this next week against Waterford.

Fry On Bacon, Fry On!

Bacon Pic of the Day – Tailgatin’ Bacon…

Sittin’ at the our tailgate last weekend for the MSU / Illinois game and what do I smell?  Why the sweet scent of swine of course…just wafting through the air.  I was just like Bugs Bunny when Elmer Fudd was cookin’ up carrot soup. That smell just hooked my nose and I floated across the grass until I found this…

Look at that skillet!

So I ask the family if I can take a picture for my bacon blog…they freak and then proceed to tell me that their son will only eat bacon sandwiches for breakfast every day.

I didn’t know whether to hug the boy or give him the name of a good cardiologist.

Have a great weekend everyone and GO STATE, 8-0 BABY!

Bacon Pic of the Day – Conference Bacon…

I’m attending a conference this week just a few miles from my house at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn

I get in yesterday, go to jump on my laptop and BAM, no free wifi.  They charge $9.99 a day.  WHAT?  Seriously??  So that gets my undies all in a bunch for the rest of the day.

Then I come back this morning for breakfast and this is what I see on the buffet line…

Looks a little better in the photo than what it was – overcooked (and in some spots burnt) bacon.

Bad enough you change me for access to the interweb tubes but then you go and burn my bacon. FOR SHAME HYATT, FOR SHAME!!

That is all, off my soapbox now.
