Choco-Bacon…Now Delivered!

Get the best of the State Fair now delivered right to your door.   That’s right, for all of us  who have ever wanted to try chocolate covered bacon but are really just too busy (**cough** lazy) to actually just melt some chocolate and pour it on bacon ourselves come this news out of Santa Cruz, CA

Marini’s on the boardwalk now presents their version of chocolate covered bacon.

From their website:

The rumors are true!  We’ve married two of life’s most tastiest foods… Bacon & Chocolate.  We start with hickory smoked bacon and it’s cooked in the oven until golden & crispy then we
smother it in our special blend of chocolate, to give you a taste sensation like nothing else you’ve ever had before.

The half pound box comes with seven slices and will run you $10.95, not including shipping.  Want more, get a pound (14 slices) for $9.00 more.

Like dark chocolate?  They got that too!

Just want a taste? Get the 4 oz., four piece gift box for $6.95.

But what I REALLY want to try is their Vegan’s Nightmare Ice Cream.  It’s chunks of chocolate covered bacon in maple syrup ice cream.  Oh my….

Well done Marini’s, well done.

More Bacon Candy – The Sticky Pig…

It’s seems like I struck a nerve with that bacon caramel recipe yesterday as TDB has it’s highest number of visitors for one day.  KA-POW!

Never let it be said that I don’t “listen” to the will of the people.  You guys are interested in bacon candy, so more bacon candy you shall have.

These marvelous little morsels are from The Sticky Pig.  They do one thing and one thing only – candied bacon confections.  From the looks of these photos, they do that well.

Up above is the four pack featuring flavors; Coconut Curry Lime, The Elvis, S’mores and Apple Pecan Dulce de Leche.

These hand crafted beauties aren’t cheap (the four pack goes for $20) but I don’t think that’s gonna stop me from trying them.

Visit their site to see all their flavors and meet the self described “Bacon Vixen” who started it all.

Test Kitchen – Nestle Toll House Bacon Cookies…

I’m making Toll House cookies the other day (the absolute best chocolate chip cookie recipe – bar NONE – I will not even hear your comments to the contrary) when a light pops over my head…

There is bacon that I cooked in the fridge, I write a bacon blog and since day one I have consistently run into stories/recipes for chocolate chip bacon cookies.

Hmmmmm.  How could this NOT be a good idea?

So with one trays worth of dough left, it was time to add the bacon!

Adventures in ChocoBacon – Sizzling Bacon Bar

We’ve got a new entry into the ChocoBacon universe…this coming from Christopher Michael Chocolatier in Newport Beach, CA.

(c) Christopher Michael Chocolatier

It’s the Sizzling Bacon Bar!  What makes this Sizzlin’?  How about POP ROCKS?!? (or as they call it, “popping candy”)

Yes, it’s chocolate and bacon but also sea salt and popping candy.

WOW!

Yes, my head started spinnin’ and mouth slobberin’.  A strange mix but color me intrigued.

An order has been placed (not cheap – $7.00 a pop) so expect a review soon!

In the meantime, check out all the chocolate over on their site!

Better With Bacon – Twofer: Cake & Tots!

Okay – so this isn’t a traditional “Better With Bacon” post where I give you the full recipe for one tasty lookin’ bacon dish.  No, today I found two interesting posts that I thought I would share.

First – The Bacon Cake:

bacon_cake1

It’s a cake that looks like a slice of bacon that has candied bacon in it!  Very Nice!  You need to pop over to notsohumblepie to find out how they made this wonderful cake.

Next is the Bacon Wrapped Tots…this via rabidscottsman’s photostream on Flickr:

I can not believe that I never thought about this.  This is literally better than Reese’s…the ultimate two great tastes that taste great together!

  • You need bacon and tots.
  • Wrap the tots with bacon.
  • Cook at 400 until crispy.

KA-POW! Life is good.

Drawing inspiration from last week’s find – the “Sir Francis Bacon Peanut Brittle” – here is another sweet and savory treat that you can make right in your own little kitchen.  It’s a very involved recipe but I couldn’t help but share…I mean look at the photo!!!

Ironically (or not) this sweet and savory treat comes via savorysweetlife.com.  You can find the recipe along with step-by-step photos and “glutton free” instructions over on their website.

Enjoy!

You Got Some Bacon in my Brittle…

I think I found this year’s holiday gift for everyone…

sfb_homepage7_jpg_w560h351

Sir Francis Bacon Peanut Brittle…Brilliant!

Artisan smoked bacon, peanuts and lots of carmalized sugar.  How could this be wrong?  And if it is (all together) then I don’t want to be right.

COMING SOON - chocolate covered.

So I don’t know if I should wait for the choco-bacon brittle or commit now?!?

Decisions, decisions.

Interested in picking some up?  They offer a 3 oz. / 3 box pack or a standard 8 oz. box. and you can order direct from their site.

Happy eatin’!
