Where the Heck Have I Been?
Yeah, it’s been busy at work, I got family stuff going on, I’ve really stepped up my marathon training (that’s a story for another time) blah, blah, blah…all that said you can completely blame THIS for my disappearance recently:
Do you hear that…the symphony of horns blaring from the heavens? I do! I do every time I go downstairs and turn this baby on.
Samsung LED 6000 Series Smart TV!
I have been waiting for soooooo long for a new TV. The 55″ projection Sony we’ve had for the last 10 years is still in really great shape so while I have looked and looked, I just haven’t been able to pull the trigger.
Well two Sundays ago, flippin’ through the Sunday paper, I came across the Best Buy circular. There I found this brand new model for a ridiculous price. I went online to find more information but it was so new, it wasn’t even on their site yet. I went to Samsung’s site and it was the same thing there. I was starting to wonder if it was just too good to be true. It wasn’t until Better Half essentially told me to suck it up and go by the freakin’ thing that I found the strength of conviction to finally take the plunge.
It is SOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL! The picture, incredible!
I’m still rockin’ an old DVD player but that didn’t matter. Popped in Star Wars and saw light and color that I have NEVER seen before.
Oh, and then I discovered streaming video through Netflix!
And THEN I finally got a hold of Uverse so I could get the HD package added to our bundle.
So now, all I want to do when I get home and get Lil’ Baird in bed is watch my precious. I’ve fallen asleep on my couch five night straight now…
Sorry! I’ll get my act together.

The bestest kind!
See more over at booturtle.
I’m late in the game featuring this so if you’ve already seen it on the interwebs, sorry for my delay. Blame it on SNOWGASM (c).

Tale of the Tauntaun II – The Aftermath…
Well, it’s been 24 hours…

Looks like we were saved from the worst of “SNOWGASM” (c) 2011. My little Tauntaun wasn’t even buried up to his belly. The tale of the tape reads just 5.5″ of the white stuff. I was SOOOO hoping to find him buried this morning.
But there was plenty of snow across the “metro Detroit” region, so it was a SNOW DAY at TDB World Headquarters. What happens at the world-wide bacon leader on snow days?
And there you go.
Hope everyone is safe and sound! More bacon goodness tomorrow.

SNOWGASM (C) 2011! Tale of the Tauntaun…
So I guess we are supposed to get some snow in this neck of the woods tonight…
Just how much? We’ll that has been a source of debate since the weekend. That brings me to…
The Tauntaun!

The Tauntaun, if you don’t know, is a fowl smelling (inside and out apparently) species of omnivorous reptomammals that are indigenous to the icy planet of Hoth. Tauntauns were commonly used as pack animals during the Rebel Alliance’s stay at Hoth. Tauntauns were also used as patrol mounts when it was learned that the Rebel Alliance’s own vehicles could not cope with the cold very well. (via wookieepedia)
Who better to help us gauge the “depth” of this storm than he?
Alone he sits, 16 inches in height, awaiting the promise of accumulation.

Stay tuned.
Ed Note: (don’t worry Al, he’s all plastic and I have two)

Random Star Wars Monday…
Okay – three Star Wars things I saw today. (PS: For those of you new to the blog, I’m a nerd.)
1) This made me laugh…
2) This was one of those things that when I saw it, I thought why did God curse me with the inability to be this creative…AND he’s selling these to raise money for his kid’s college fund. BRILLIANT! (Until Lucasfilm shuts him down)… [Read more →]

On the First Day of Comic Con…How Nerds Fry Bacon
San Diego Comic Con started today. I may not be there in person, but I am in spirit. So all weekend I will be posting some great new nerdy things, like this for example…
Brand New over at StarWarsShop.com, 100% polyester and machine washable.
Goes great with that Space Slug oven mitt you’ve been eyeing.
And after you make that bacon, how about some Vader or Yoda pancakes?

Darth Bacon!
These are a few of my favorite things…
This is Darth Bacon! created by artist Dan Goodsell, he of Mr. Toast fame.
Brilliant isn’t it? It’s part of The Vader Project – a touring exhibit that featured replica Darth Vader masks designed and reinterpreted by underground artists.
Well the exhibit is off the road and now all the helmet are being auctioned off this week (July 10th) in Philadelphia.
Check out the complete catalog here.
Oh and if you are interested in our little friend above, bidding starts at $3,000…
