Had another “world’s collide” moment last night.

I was watching “Top Chef” on the DVR.  Commercial break came up and I instinctively hit the fast forward button when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I see this…

Bacon? Sea of red? Whoa nelly…Rewind!

On second viewing (at regular speed) I find this…

Absolutely brilliant spot!  Just long enough, nice meta moment with Kevin and Padma, Padma’s reaction at the end (oh and how GREAT does she look?), lettuce and tomato sandwich, the music at the end, it’s placement in the first commercial block of this Target themed episode (which included three other new spots)…everything about this was just perfect execution.

My second favorite TV spot of the year so far!  Bravo to Bravo and Target.

So I got home late tonight (more on the reason why tomorrow), cranked up the old DVR and started watching “Top Chef“.  About half way through, right when the cheftestants are shopping for their Elimination challenge, is when I see this logo on Andrea’s t-shirt…

Holy Crud!!!  I know that logo!!!  It’s from the blog Skulls and Bacon, one of the very first blogs that shared links with me.

I’m so happy for them (her).  Big ups!

This is kind of a no-brainer, bacon, lettuce and tomato being such a beloved sandwich combo, especially when there’s a good smear of mayo. This guacamole is in the same vein, except that the tangy, creamy mayo is replaced by avocado and lime. Come to think of it, the avocado, along with a little cilantro, brings the lettuce-green to the picture as well. It’s a perfect Mexican-American fusion of smoky, bright, creamy, fresh and satisfying.

So last week Top Chef aired some  stupid “where are they now” type dinner party / conversation with past contestants.  BORING!!!  and disappointing as they didn’t make any sort of programming note after the previous week’s episode.  So last night’s was the first new ep in two weeks and that is on the heals of their last break in episodes…what’s up Bravo scheduling department???  Way to kill momentum.

Okay – I’ve been talkin’ about catching up with my “Top Chef” viewing and posting, but I just can’t seem to set any time to write about the last three episodes that I’ve missed.  I’ve literally had five pages of notes that keep getting moved from home to work to home to work… 

So executive decision time, I’m just going to start fresh with last night’s show, “Meat Natalie“, then quickly touch on the last three “lost” episodes (Dinner Party / Pigs and Pinot / Restaurant Wars).

Traveling for a week can really pile things up on a guy!  How does this pertain to TDB? Well I’ve got a PACKED DVR with tons of stuff to watch, including two episodes of “Top Chef“…hence the reason why no recap yet. Also, I can’t get the photos off my camera right now, so I can’t get my Fast Food Friday post up today. Plus, I’m leaving early today to head up to MSU for Homecoming.  Need to start that party early.

I should get back to a normal schedule next week as I’ll mostly be either sitting at my desk or sitting at home (I lead such an exciting life).  So let’s just plan on meeting up back here on Monday!  I’ll catch up on the stuff above plus have a little review of my dinner at Aqueous, the AAA Four Diamond restaurant at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, that incuded plenty of bacon!
