Better with Bacon – Bacon Caramel Apple
Apples and pig ALWAYS go together!! So in that spirit, today we feature a nice twist to that seasonal staple the caramel apple.
Sadly, there was no photo of this wonderful treat, so you’ll have to suffer with this incredibly poor artist rendition…

B-TV – South Park Shouts Out Baconalia!
Catching up on my DVR viewing last night and found a great bit on South Park about Denny’s Baconalia.
The episode also does a great job of nailing the NCAA and EA Sports in that certain way only South Park can do.
Pop over to southparkstudios.com and catch this week’s episode. Slide to around the 4:25 mark to get to the Denny’s bit.

Better with Bacon – Sandy’s Bean & Bacon Soup
I’m a BIG fan of a good bean soup and this looked real tasty!! This would be a great dinner after a long day raking leaves or just sittin’ on your butt watchin’ football (which really would be more like it with me…).
Nice job Sandy! Recipe after the jump. [Read more →]

- 1 1/2 cups (225 g) bacon (15-20 slices)
- 4 large eggs
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 cup (250 ml) half & half 10% cream
- ? cup (75 ml) maple syrup
- ? cup (160 ml) butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) blueberries — fresh or frozen
Directions:

BEST OF TDB | Test Kitchen – Maple French Toast & Bacon Cupcakes…
We are away on vacation until July 12th. Until then, please enjoy these selected “Best Of” posts. This was originally published 9/2/2009.
Yesterday’s “Better with Bacon” featured recipe, the Maple French Toast & Bacon Cupcake, came from the “Food Network Magazine” and provided yet another take on what is becoming a trend in the dessert world – sweet & savory desserts featuring bacon!
When I was a kid, I used to love to bake: Nestle Tollhouse Cookies, Skywalker Crunchies (I know…nerd), cakes, brownies, etc. I need to say upfront that it has been quite some time since I actually baked anything but this looked so good that I had to try.
What I didn’t expect was the amount of time it took to make these. The recipe said 40 minutes, but turns out that was just the baking time. I started this project at 9:15 pm and didn’t finish until 11:30 pm. Granted, my lack of current experience may have hindered me, but making stuff from scratch like this takes a while (that did also include clean up as the cupcakes were in the oven).
So when I start to make anything, I like to have all the ingredients pulled: [Read more →]
