The Strange Case of Bacon Academy Football…
It’s truly “Jekyll and Hyde” up in Connecticut. I just can’t figure these kids out…as always, our news comes straight out of the Norwich Bulletin from Brian Girasoli:
COLCHESTER — Two straight dispiriting losses had the Bacon Academy football team feeling pretty angry during practice this week.
“It’s been a long, great week of practice,” said Bacon coach Duane Maranda. “I was (upset) from Sunday on, I really was. I couldn’t wait to get these guys back on the football field and making the defense a little stronger, and getting them to play the way I know they can play.”
Did they ever. Saturday against Plainfield, linebacker Tommy Scott had at least four sacks and Alex Couture returned an interception for a touchdown in the Bobcats’ 41-22 win.
So after two losses where they are outscored 101-7, they jump all over Plainfield. This team is completely schizophrenic. In their three wins, they’ve averaged 44.3 points! But then they just get destroyed in their losses. I don’t know if there is that great of a discrepancy in talent within the league or if this inconsistency is due to coaching but come one guys…
Anywho, the fightin’ Bacon Academy fightin’ Bobcats are back to .500 at 3-3 with four games to go. Let’s try to make it two in a row this next week against Waterford.
Fry On Bacon, Fry On!
