Check out this real cute shirt from Toast in Birmingham (MI). I was there for a breakfast meeting this morning, saw this and was ready to drop some cash so Lil’ Baird could rock the bacon – but they didn’t have toddler sizes.
Birmingham- B’ham…get it? But if it’s supposed to be “ham and eggs” then why the bacon? I’m not complaining and really, what other meat could you put on the plate to give you that great breakfast smile (sorry, sausage just doesn’t cut it in). Just saying…
Yes, this is the stuff I think about! Welcome to my mind
BTW – here was this morning’s side dish…

It’s got groove it’s got meaning
Grease is the time, is the place is the motion
Grease is the way we are feeling…
Yes sir, over the last few days I have been reading a lot about bacon grease. It was used to infuse an Old Fashioned, there was an ode to it’s virtue, I’ve seen it in several new recipes that I am considering for posting and EVEN for use in making bacon soap (more on that tomorrow).
That got me thinking…and that’s never a good thing…how should I go about trying to make some of these things while not keeping an old can of grease in the house (which would surely gross out and disturb Better Half)?

Some “wacky” French Canadians spent $37 on bacon and decided to then make their friend a bacon mummy.
Seriously, don’t do this at home people…even I , your friendly neighborhood Bacon Boy, has a case of the skeevies watching this. Heck, I wash my hands at least 5-6 times when I make just one package of bacon. Yes this may gross me out BUT they do cover their buddy in bacon…so you know I got to show it!

Three of my favorite things, all thrown into a crockpot. Walk away for a view hours and BAM, yummy goodness!
Bacon Cheese Potatoes
- 1/4 pound bacon, diced
- 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
- salt and pepper
- Green Onions (optional)
- Line crockpot with foil, leaving enough to cover the potatoes when finished.
- Layer half each of the bacon, onions, potatoes and cheese in crockpot. Season to taste and dot with butter.
- Repeat layers of bacon, onions, potatoes and cheese. Dot with butter.
- Cover with remaining foil.
- Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours.
thanks to Moms with Crockpots for this one!
