Fair Food…More Choco-Bacon!

This comes to us today from TDB’s “Southern California Bacon and Beer” Correspondent Vicki (SHOUT OUT!)

Chocolate-covered bacon at San Diego Fair…so wish I saw the chocolate-covered bacon while *at* the San Diego Fair yesterday! Instead, I was at the International Beer Festival part of the fair, of course. Only when I came home and flipped through the program did I see this delicacy. If I end up going back within the week, I will certainly try it out, even if it was deemed the grossest fair food.

Another fair getting on the choco-bacon train!  I can’t blame Vicki for not noticing, she was at the International Beer Festival after all!

Alas, the “reporter” didn’t care much for the chocolate covered bacon, proclaiming it as Vicki stated above – the “Grossest Food of the Fair”. From her story:

I hold these truths to be self-evident:

1) Chocolate cures all.

2) Anything goes with chocolate.

Anything that is, except for bacon.

For every maxim, there is at least one exception, and I’ve found it. Chocolate is disgusting with bacon, and that’s a fact.

The San Diego County Fair brings us all kinds of colorful food combinations, but this one is a must-don’t. When I put a bite in my mouth, my stomach immediately revolted, knowing it wasn’t meant to process the two food groups together. Think of a chewy, fat-flavored licorice with the teasing temptation of chocolate; then take away everything delightful about chocolate and replace it with bacon.

To each is own, but WE know that bacon and chocolate together is not disgusting!!  That is not a fact!  I have imperical proof that bacon and chocolate do mix and do mix well!  I put my trust in Vicki to set this record straight!
